Important Updates on 4pm & 5pm March on Port

For timing issues in order to successfully blockade the port, we will be leaving 14th and Broadway to march together on the port at 4pm sharp, and again at 5pm sharp. There will also be a critical mass leaving at 14th and broadway at 4pm as well. Take over the Port by bike! Critical Mass Bike Ride call out, to ride to the Port at 4pm, from Oscar Grant Plaza (Frank Ogawa Plaza) and shut it down. Ride in solidarity with Occupy Oakland, and the General strike. 2768

Why Should I Pay More Taxes to Support the War Machine

I am a member of the 1% (and just as a point of order, it is the 6/10 of 1% that gained most of the wealth generated by the bubble economy of the Bush II Years), but why ask me or anyone to pay more taxes to support our war machine? Where are the demands that we stop making war in the Middle East, and cut the Defense budget in order to start (re)building schools, roads, bridges, alternative energy facilities and so on here at home? If anyone saw, or knows someone who saw the face of the officer who shot Scott Olsen, I would like to talk with you. It would be good to ID the officer. I want to help work up an image, for accountability purposes of the person who shot the tear gas cannister. I heard on KPFA a man who said he saw the officer’s face and would like to speak with him or anyone else who witnessed who shot it. Thanks – GO OCCUPY OAKLAND! — John 2724

About OccupyOakland.org

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.

If you would like to participate while the pandemic is still amidst, send an email to occupyoakland-request@lists.riseup.net. Check the calendar or this text to see if we have resumed in-person meetings.
