Martial Nonviolence Workshop

AKA “Conflict Done Well: aikido activism”

When: Tuesday, November 15th at 2:30pm

Wherever the main Oakland Occupation goes. Follow Tw@bdwc (http://twitter.com/bdwc) or call (510) 697-1513 to coordinate. We will combine the workshop with the march and learn on our feet!

Peace is a martial art, conflict done well, and requires community practice while marching, camping, speaking, and sitting together in order to insist on peaceful outcomes even in the face of violence. Occupy Oakland has been a shining beacon, the vast majority demonstrating nonviolence with great courage and open hearts. Come practice together a few effective bodymind exercises based in aikido and theater improv with which to facilitate conflict of all kinds, from overt physical attack to covert systemic violence, such that outcomes build the future you want and do not play into the hands of Oppression.
